Steak Ciabatta Recipe (Barbecue)

Ingredients:

  • 500 g beef steak (ribeye, sirloin, or any cut of your choice)
  • 4 ciabatta rolls
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 100 g arugula (rocket) or mixed greens
  • 150 g cheese (cheddar, provolone, or mozzarella), sliced or grated
  • 50 g mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions:

Prepare the Steak:

Rub the steak with 1 tablespoon olive oil, garlic powder, smoked
paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let it sit at room temperature
for 15-20 minutes to absorb the seasoning.

Prepare the Vegetables:

Toss the sliced red onion and bell pepper with the remaining
olive oil and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

Prepare the Barbecue:

Preheat the barbecue to medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates
lightly with oil to prevent sticking.

Grill the Steak:

Place the steak on the hot barbecue grill. Cook for 3-5 minutes
per side for medium-rare, or adjust the time based on your desired
doneness. Use a meat thermometer if needed (55-60°C for medium-rare).
Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for
5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Grill the Vegetables:

Place the onion and bell pepper slices on the grill. Cook for
3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until slightly softened and charred.

Prepare the Ciabatta Rolls:

Slice the ciabatta rolls in half and lightly toast the cut sides on
the barbecue for about 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy.

Make the Spread:

In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice.
Spread this mixture on the toasted sides of the ciabatta rolls.

Assemble the Ciabatta:

On the bottom half of each roll, layer a handful of arugula or greens,
followed by slices of steak, grilled vegetables, and cheese.
Place the top half of the roll over the fillings.

Optional (Melt the Cheese):

Wrap each assembled ciabatta in aluminum foil and place it
back on the grill for 2-3 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.

Serve:

Unwrap, slice in half if desired, and serve immediately with your
favorite side dishes.

Enjoy your barbecue steak ciabatta!
